Mariano Martínez’s tattoos range from chest and back portraits to numbers on his ribs and arms, plus a butterfly and dagger on his leg. He has discussed the chest pair, numbers and leg design in separate terms.
How the collection developed
Argentine coverage says Martínez’s back project took more than a year to complete.
He has also discussed numbers on his ribs and arms: 33, 7, 888 and 11. He connected them with spirituality, introspection and a sense of balance.
A studio view shows the chest tattoos together
A lion covers one side of Martínez’s chest, with an Eye of Horus on the other. The lion is associated with courage and the Eye with protection. In 2021, Martínez described the pair as “fuerza y libertad” (“strength and freedom”), credited tattoo artist Florencia Segovia and said each side took hours.
The studio photo shows both pieces at once. Martínez sits beneath a neon tattoo sign with his arms extended; the lion’s mane and the Eye’s dark outline are both clear.

Outdoor light changes the reading of the chest ink
In the outdoor photo, daylight softens the grey tones in the lion and leaves the Eye’s outline crisp. It’s the same chest pair shown in the studio, under different light.

The mirrored portrait reveals smaller arm marks
In a black-and-white fitness portrait, a mirror shows the back of Martínez’s shoulder while the front view keeps his chest visible. Smaller marks on his arms and near his side are easier to spot in this wider view.

The shower diptych expands the back and shoulder story
The shower diptych pairs a front view of the chest with a view of Martínez’s back and shoulders. TN and A24 describe the back design as an eagle, skull and snake, with wings spreading across the shoulders and other forms reaching down the back.
Water and steam blur the smaller lines, but the diptych still shows the scale of the shoulder-to-back coverage.

The leg tattoo adds a sharper graphic note
The leg piece shows a butterfly crossed by a dagger. Martínez has said the butterfly represents evolution and the dagger marks the end of one period and start of another.
The close-up uses more colour than the chest and back photos. It also shows how the leg can be covered by trousers or brought into view for a photograph.

Why Mariano Martínez tattoos stand out
The photos show extensive work, but Martínez has explained specific designs rather than giving the whole collection one meaning. His comments connect some pieces to strength and freedom, spirituality and change.
