Mothica’s tattoos include a right-arm sleeve, a snake across her torso, lettering tied to her music and a back piece inspired by a painting. In interviews, she has explained the stories behind several of them. Her comments give context to the designs without requiring a guess at the meaning of every mark.
The sleeve tattoo mixes motion and structure

Mothica has said her right sleeve was done by Ian Healy. It includes a hawk in flight with an arrow through it, a ram skull and a fern leaf. The motifs move between an animal in motion, a skull and a plant; together, they cover much of the arm without becoming one uninterrupted image.
She has singled out this sleeve as a favorite, praising Healy’s work. The photograph shows how the different pieces sit together along the arm.
The snake tattoo turns her torso into a canvas

A red-lit Kerrang portrait shows a snake running across Mothica’s side and midriff. Its long curve follows the torso, making it look different from the separate images on her arm. The photo shows the placement, but doesn’t establish a meaning for the snake.
The full-arm tattoo coverage is the loudest part

The Wonderland portrait shows Mothica’s chest and both arms in one frame. With her arms crossed, you can see how much of her upper body is tattooed, and how the individual forms overlap in the photograph. The image is useful for seeing the overall coverage; close views make the separate designs easier to distinguish.
Chest tattoos and the spaces between pieces

The PM Studio portrait gives a front-facing view of the chest and forearm tattoos. From this angle, the chest pieces sit between the arm work, while the forearm designs remain distinct from the heavier coverage above them. The photo shows where the tattoos sit, though it doesn’t identify every image or explain its meaning.
The visible words in Mothica’s tattoo collection

In a 2020 interview with Inked, Mothica said the words on her body are titles of songs she has released or still has in progress. She named “chaos,” “VICES,” “heavy heart” and “NOW.”
She also has “forever fifteen” on her wrist. Mothica said the phrase recalls her first suicide attempt at 15 and reminds her to be strong for her younger self. She told Inked that three moths swarming a lamppost inspired the name Mothica.
Why the details feel personal
Mothica’s first tattoo was a geometric cube on the back of her neck. She told Inked that she was interested in minimalism and architecture at the time.
The back piece draws on the painting Lucretia. Mothica described the tattoo as a woman stabbing herself, cradled by Death in the form of a skeleton and surrounded by flowers. She said she saw her own experience with self-harm in Lucretia’s story and wanted the tattoo to reflect that. The meaning comes from her explanation, rather than from the image alone.
What makes the collection work
Mothica’s tattoos range from the hawk, skull and fern on her sleeve to lettering and a large scene across her back. Some are connected to her songs or personal history because she has explained them herself; the photographs show the rest of the collection without filling in details she hasn’t confirmed.
