Tina Louise Tattoos: Dreamcatchers, Swallows and Red Roses

Tina Louise’s collection combines large sleeves with smaller pieces on her ribs. One arm has dreamcatcher hoops and feathers; the other mixes fine branches with red roses. A sun and two swallows sit along her ribs.

In a 2015 Inked interview, Louise said her first tattoo was a small butterfly she got on her eighteenth birthday because she associated it with freedom. She later added a cross, family lettering and a back quotation she connected to being bullied at school. She said her sleeves began after moving to America and named Kareem Masarani of Newport Tattoo as the artist behind most of her tattoos at that time.

The double dreamcatcher tattoo on her left upper arm

Two dreamcatcher hoops sit one above the other on Louise’s left upper arm. Fine curved lines cross inside each circle, and long feathers hang toward her elbow. The smaller lower hoop carries the design down the arm before the feathers begin.

There’s open skin between the web lines, while the feathers have darker edges and more texture. Louise hasn’t explained her personal reason for this design; its light, airy outline is clear in the photograph.

The sun tattoo on her right ribs

A round sun sits on Louise’s right ribs. Pointed rays surround several rings of small details, with a face-like pattern at the center. The outer rays are uneven in length, while the markings inside the circle are more regular.

The tattoo sits on an open patch of skin between her arm and hip. The photo shows the full outline, but Louise hasn’t given a meaning for this design.

The fine-line nature tattoos on her right upper arm

Branching lines and small floral shapes run through Louise’s right upper arm. Some strokes are very light; darker curves separate the larger forms. The pattern wraps around her arm, so each photo shows a different portion. Fine lettering and a narrow branch-like design continue onto the forearm.

Louise said she trusted her regular artist, but the interview doesn’t identify who made every detail in these photos. The sleeve’s fine lines, leaves and open spaces are visible without needing an artist attribution for each piece.

The two swallow tattoos on her left ribs

Two small swallow-style birds sit along Louise’s left ribs, behind her upper arm. One has warm red coloring; the other is mostly dark linework. Their swept wings and forked tails keep the silhouettes recognizable.

They’re partly hidden when she faces forward and easier to see when she turns. The pair sit between the dreamcatcher feathers and her swimsuit strap, with clear skin around them. She hasn’t shared a specific meaning for the birds.

The red rose tattoos on her right forearm

Red roses with green leaves climb Louise’s right forearm from near the wrist. Dark outlines and shaded folds give the petals depth, and the leaves break up the edge of the flower group. Fine script and other details continue farther around the arm.

The roses contrast with the darker ornamental pattern on her left forearm. One side uses warm color and rounded petals; the other relies on repeated dark curves. Louise’s Hollywood photo-shoot clip is below.
