Kayleigh Swenson Tattoos: Sleeves, Portrait, Candles and Roses

Kayleigh Swenson, also known as Viking Barbie, has two densely shaded black-and-grey sleeves, a portrait on her right forearm and a vertical group of roses on her thigh. Faces and creatures sit inside layered backgrounds, while smaller pale details break up the dark areas.

In a 2019 Inked interview, Swenson said Sergio Sanchez did both sleeves and described their theme as the Seven Deadly Sins. She called the designs loose interpretations connected to her experiences with excess and obsession.

Black-and-grey sleeves and the Seven Deadly Sins

Swenson identified wrath with the inner right forearm, vanity with the outside, gluttony with the inner upper arm and lust with the outside. That’s her map of the theme; it doesn’t assign every small figure to a specific sin.

The sleeves combine large faces, smaller figures and dark background shading. The changing scale lets the subjects remain distinct while the grey tones carry around each arm.

The woman’s portrait on her right forearm

A large woman’s face runs along Swenson’s right forearm, surrounded by flowing lines and darker shading. The cheeks and nose have lighter highlights, while tooth-like details interrupt the mouth and give the portrait a horror edge.

Swenson associates the outside of this forearm with vanity, but the photo doesn’t identify the face as a particular person. The portrait is the main subject in that area of the sleeve.

The winged insect on her left arm

A dark, segmented insect sits at the center of a pale web-like pattern on Swenson’s left arm. Its wings spread into the surrounding lines, which stand apart from the denser shading nearby. The photos don’t make the insect’s species or personal meaning clear.

The central body is easy to spot even as parts of the design wrap out of view around her arm. Lettering and other figures sit nearby, but the insect holds its own space.

Dripping candle tattoos around her left elbow

Several pale candles appear around the outside of Swenson’s left elbow, with long, uneven trails of wax running through the dark background. Their narrow forms add a different shape to the sleeve from the faces and insect.

Swenson hasn’t explained what these particular candles mean to her. The pale edges and wax trails remain visible against the darker shading, giving the scene its eerie look.

Roses along her outer thigh

A vertical group of roses runs down the outside of Swenson’s thigh. Layered petals sit close to a central line, with pointed leaves extending out to either side. Dark outlines and grey shading link the flowers to the sleeves, though the thigh design has more open skin around it.

No personal dedication is given for this piece. The visible contrast is between the flowers and leaves, and between the open thigh placement and the densely shaded arms. Swenson’s official Viking Barbie video for Bury Yourself is below.
