Chris Hemsworth’s tattoo collection is easier to understand when each piece is tied to the story he has actually told about it. The Dr. Seuss character began with a book he read to India

On his left bicep, Hemsworth has a small tattoo inspired by Oh, the Places You’ll Go! He has said the book was a favorite of India’s and that he used to read it to her. The image is a character from the book, so the design carries a much more personal association than a simple fan reference to Dr. Seuss.

Its appearance has changed. Hemsworth said he grew tired of the tattoo and tried laser removal, but stopped after one session. India noticed the fading and told him she loved it. He chose to leave it, and has described the tattoo as partly faded. Hemsworth showed a different forearm design in 2022, made by Austin-based tattoo artist Dillon Forte. The finished piece is a compact, black geometric composition built from interlocking shapes and repeated lines. Forte’s work often draws on sacred geometry, but the visible design should be described as it appears rather than given a spiritual message Hemsworth never claimed for it.

Hemsworth called the image “trippy sacred geometry” and said that while people might see different meanings in it, he simply thought it looked cool. That is a useful limit on interpretation. The phrase identifies the visual style; his own explanation does not say that the tattoo represents a particular belief, mathematical formula or life event.

This piece is also separate from India’s small drawings. The distinction is easy to lose when photographs show several forearm tattoos close together. One is a set of sketches tied to his daughter; the other is a finished geometric design credited to Forte. Treating them as one tattoo would blur both the artist’s role and Hemsworth’s account.

The documented stories share a family connection: the initials name Pataky and the children, the Dr. Seuss character recalls a book Hemsworth read with India, and India’s own pictures became ink. The Avengers piece belongs to a different circle, the actors who played the original team. Forte’s geometry has its own explanation, which is simply that Hemsworth liked the image.

That mix is more interesting than a single all-purpose theme. These tattoos point to different relationships and moments, and some are explained more fully than others.
