Sara Fabel Tattoos: Back Wings, Arm Script and Hand Blackwork

Finnish tattoo artist and model Sara Fabel’s collection moves between broad wing outlines, small illustrated figures, script and dense hand blackwork. In a 2019 Freshly Inked interview, she talked about moving from teaching and illustration into tattooing, her interest in historical etchings and how her work had changed over time.

Wing outlines across her upper back

Sara Fabel tattoos: Upper back wing outlines visible and sharp; fine contours and large open spaces.

Scalloped outlines stretch across Fabel’s shoulder blades, leaving much of the wings open rather than filling them with dark shading. A denser ornamental area sits near the base of her neck, while the longer lines continue down her back. The contrast makes the wide wing shape easy to pick out, even when her hair covers part of the upper design.

Ornamental figures on her lower back

Sara Fabel tattoos: Lower back figure and long ornamental curls visible in a separate horizontal photograph.

A small outlined figure sits among curls and long loops on Fabel’s lower back. Finer lines meet broader sweeps, with a dark star-like mark adding another point of contrast. The figure’s identity isn’t established by the photo; the print-like quality comes through in the outlines and the way the shapes are framed.

Creature designs and curls around her arm

Sara Fabel tattoos: Bold upper arm creature forms and outlined forearm objects clearly distinguishable.

Fabel’s arm combines bold creature forms on the upper arm with finer outlined details near the forearm. In a 2016 interview with LOCALE, she described a winged lion and an eagle-headed griffin among her designs, connecting them with protection and saying she created the designs herself. The heavier black shapes above contrast with the lighter drawings farther down.

Fear None lettering on her inner arm

Sara Fabel tattoos: Fear None script and neighboring outline clear at original resolution.

The script on Fabel’s inner arm reads Fear None. Long tails and rounded loops give the short phrase movement, while a nearby small outline and black shapes connect it to the other arm work. The photo shows the wording clearly, but doesn’t establish a specific personal story behind it.

Interlocking black pattern on her hand

Sara Fabel tattoos: Interlocking black pattern on back of hand, with open loops and defined border.

An interlocking black pattern covers the back of Fabel’s hand, with pale openings that keep the loops visible. The design narrows toward the wrist and spreads across the hand, while smaller marks continue onto the fingers. It has a denser look than the open wings across her back. Her conversation with Inked about her path into tattooing is below.
